A new chapter to the
walking dead game is out and it’s by far the darkest and the most shocking
episode yet, and this comes following the episode involving cannibals, how
worse can it get?
A lot worse.
The story picks up right
after the survivors’ latest ordeal, tension grows and a betrayal from within
the group forces the gang on the move again.
The story line keeps using
the elements making the Walking Dead franchise a gripping tale; No one is safe,
anything can happen, at anytime. This time however a horrifying line is crossed
and as the title of this episode indicates, the hero is finally getting a sense
of what lies ahead and the sacrifices to come.
Unexpected encounters bring
additional weight to the group and one in particular will bring some
much-needed sense into our hero and his responsibility toward the little girl
he took charge off.
The simplistic gameplay
still works and serves the game’s unique pace well, in this case, less is more.
Mainly, the general theme
of the Walking Dead is bringing me back to Primo Levi and the horrifying
stories of the holocaust’s survivors, of course we are talking about fiction in
that case, however the theme of what makes us human and the costs of survival
over what makes us a human beings are in this case, very similar.
Another sense to the title of the
franchise can be found taking this into account, The Walking Dead aren’t the
zombies or walkers as they are called. The real “walking dead” are the
survivors, in both literal and metaphorical sense, the survivor are dispossessed of all their physical belongings and comfort, are forced to
renounce to their values, then more moral lines are crossed leading ultimately
to losing what makes them humans.
A solid experience to say
the least, The Walking Dead keeps on impressing and will bring some shocking
revelations about yourself as well.
