Oculus Rift - Step into the future of gaming

Just like Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus. I have been waiting for a day where we could plug into our games and journey into the virtual world, like we see it happening in the Matrix and so did you.

In the past few years, we have seen so many great technological innovations, we now have touchscreen, mention sensor, voice recognition and even though we still don't know how to truly use these great products to their fullest, we never have been so close to science fiction.

Oculus is going to take us further into the future by bringing the first consumer VR headset, designed for gaming. Of course the concept of virtual reality isn't new and has been used for years in advanced flight simulators for instance, but never before was this technology put within reach of the consumer with an affordable piece of hardware.

The reason why I am so excited about VR finally being implemented into our gaming experience, is because the way we play games haven't significantly evolved for decades. Of course attempts like the Wii had it's moment of glory, but simply couldn't hold the distance, the Kinect still tries to find its place, even if we already saw some interesting applications for the device as a supporting controller for game features like dialogue and the like, interesting but not a game changer, pun intend. Finally, the latest gimmick from Nintendo, the Wii U, which is really a solution still searching for a problem.

Those device tried to create a more immersive experience, but the bottom line is that none of us really want to replace our trusty controller by a dildo, the next logical step could simply be more immersive graphics, VR in this case sounds like the next logical step.

Oculus was present at CES and from what I could ear and read from the team of the Verge, the Oculus Rift is delivering all it's promises.

Developers can already pre-order their developer kit for $ 300 on Oculus website.

It won't be long now before we all get to plug in and dream wide awake, like our dear Josh.
