Project Shield

Nvidia has just unveiled a new handheld gaming system called Project Shield.

At first glance, the device is meant to support console quality game and will run on Android, and includes Google's apps for Gmail and the Play Store. Perhaps this is a contender to the clever concept of the Ouya or even Razer's switchbladeThis device is meant to be a mobile platform, while still capable of be connected to external displays via HDMI.

Design and controls are very familiar to a XBOX controller, no prices announced yet.

The question remains, if there is place for another device in our lives, particularly after Sony's latest attempt with the PSP Vita.
